Health & Social Care is a growing vocational profession with Health and Social Care providers being among the biggest UK employers. A career in Care is one of the most rewarding, providing tremendous personal and job satisfaction and opens up a world of opportunities both within the UK and abroad. Health and social care courses can lead to looking after some of the more vulnerable members of the community. Luton Adult Learning courses will provide you with a range of skills and the knowledge needed to work in a variety of environments from care homes to hospitals to community support work, generally making a difference in the lives of:

    • People with mental health problems
    • People with learning disabilities


On Luton Adult Learning Health and Social Care courses, you will learn:

    • Supporting and Protecting Adults

We offer a wide range of courses suitable for volunteers through to senior care workers. All our courses are either part time or assessor only basis. Our dynamic team have a vast amount of vocational and academic experience, and provide excellent support to help students achieve their goals. The team uses a large variety of teaching strategies to meet everyone’s needs. You will be encouraged to develop skills and experience, and given all the support you need to help progress and meet your career goals.


We offer a broad programme including:

    • Level 1 - Certificate in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings is designed for anyone over the age of 16 who wishes to gain knowledge and awareness of Health, Social Care and Young People's Settings and do not have placements.
    • Level 2 - Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF) is for carers who are concerned directly with care of clients. You should be working or volunteering in an environment where you can be observed as you carry out your day to day activities.
    • Level 3 - Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England designed for carers who are working as supervisors or team leaders concerned directly with care of clients. 


The QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 and Level 3 are nationally recognised qualification based on the Health and Social Care National Occupation Standards approved by Skills for Care & Development. The award will confirm knowledge, skills and competence for individuals working with adults all social care settings, such as within residential settings, primary care environments, domiciliary services, day services and supported living.
