Payment for ESOL Classes: The Government has stated that from September 2007 people will have to pay for the cost of their ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages). This year the cost will be £40 a term for most classes (£8 if you receive means-tested benefits). Some short ESOL and Sewing classes will cost £50 a term (£10 for those on benefits).
Refunds-Fees are NOT refundable unless a course is already fully subscribed at the time of enrolment or a course has to be cancelled by the Centre. Examination and other assessment fees which are paid to Examining Boards cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
Examination Fees-The examination fee on vocational courses is included in the course cost. However, you are not automatically entered for the examination and it is your responsibility to ensure that you enter for the appropriate exam before the closing date.
There is no reduction in fees if you choose not to enter for an exam. Students will be invoiced for the full examination fee if, having registered to take the exam, they fail to attend on the exam date without a medical certificate.
