On Thursday 27 August 2026 we held an event at Arndale House to celebrate learners that have been on the Passport to NHS Careers programme.

Passport to NHS Careers is a four-session course designed to help people find jobs in the National Health Service (NHS) and health and social care sectors. The training course is run by Luton Adult Learning in partnership with Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Health and Care Partnership.

The course covers:

Role exploration: Explores the 350+ different career paths available within the NHS and health sector, breaking down common myths.

Skill building: Identifies your transferable skills and matches them to employer needs.

Application support: Provides practical help with writing strong supporting statements and application forms.

Interviews: Offers interview preparation, techniques, and career planning.

The event was a chance to network with others that have been on the Passport to NHS Careers course and celebrate the learner’s experiences and successes since completing the course.

It was great to hear the range of different roles learners have now undertaken and their future plans. Many of the learners said that the course had opened up opportunities and had really helped with their confidence. A number of learners have taken up volunteering roles to help them take their next step into employment.

One learner said how the course was very informative and helpful. She found it useful finding out about the different types of roles that are available and it broadened her perspective as to what she could do. She has since undertaken some other courses with Luton Adult Learning over the past few months, and she is soon to be starting a course at the University of Bedfordshire.

Amanda Csakvary (Teacher Practitioner) spoke at the event and expressed how proud she is of all of the people that have been on the course so far. Amanda gave a update from some of the learners that were unable to attend the event and handed out certificates to the attendees.

Jane Hall (Senior Workforce Transformation Project Manager for BLMK Widening Access Programme) was also in attendance. Jane said how being part of this course is “one of the most privileged roles that I do”.  Her advice to the learners still looking for work was to  “just keep going and grab every opportunity”.
