Join us in celebrating 40 years of Volunteers’ Week and look to inspire more people to make a difference.

On the 3rd June – 9th June, we celebrated Volunteers' Week 2024! We would like to point you in the direction of local volunteering opportunities below. By volunteering, you can learn new skills, improve your mental health and wellbeing and gain valuable work experience!

  • Goodgym are a community of people who get fit by doing good. They run, walk, and cycle to help local community organisations and isolated older people by doing practical tasks.

  • Luton Foodbank provides free, nutritionally balanced, and culturally appropriate food to people in hardship or distress and signpost information to local advice and information services.

  • Brown Books is a community bookshop in High Town, Luton and is a key project being delivered by Luton Literature CIC. The shop sells a mix of second-hand (pre-loved) and new books, as well as being a hub for literary events and activities.

  • Flying Start recognises the importance of the very early years of life in making that real difference, giving every child the best start in life and tackling inequalities.

  • Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service have various roles are available to volunteer within to help make a difference to your local community.

  • Community Voluntary Service - Use the Simply Connect Opportunity Search to browse for available vacancies in Bedfordshire.

  • Noah is a Luton-based charity working across Bedfordshire offering hope and support to people struggling against homelessness and exclusion. 

  • Groundwork help grow and cook fresh produce which will be shared and distributed to those in need in Luton.

  • Youthscape has worked with young people for over 25 years, and we remain passionate as ever about seeing transformation in the lives of young people of all backgrounds within our schools, churches and local community. 

  • Keech Hospice Care have many different volunteer roles available and they regularly develop new roles depending on the needs of our community, patients, their loved ones and the teams that support them.

  • Stepping Stones are dedicated to empowering women who have suffered domestic abuse or are vulnerable due to substance misuse by providing hope and the skills and resources to make positive life choices.

  • Age Concern are Luton’s largest charity working with older people and has been helping older people and their carers get the services they need, make their voices heard and make a contribution to their communities for 20 years.

  • Citizen's Advice - We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating. At Citizens Advice we believe no one should have to face these problems without good quality, independent advice. 

We have recently had events such as Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Luton Carnival – keep a look out for future events such as Pride Festival if an opportunity of volunteering in a festival setting interests you.
