The Family Learning team at Luton Adult Learning recently hosted a series of free, creative Art for Wellbeing workshops at Arndale House during the summer holidays. Aimed at children aged 4 to 7 and their parents or carers, these sessions gave local families a brilliant opportunity to learn, craft, and connect together.

Through two distinct theme of Space and Weather, our wonderful Family Learning teachers guided participants through hands on activities designed to spark imagination and support emotional well-being.

The workshops were structured into two weekly repeated sessions, allowing multiple families to benefit from the program throughout July and August 2026:

Space: Navigating Friendships

The Project: Children used recyclable materials to build their very own spaceships and robots.

The Goal: While crafting, families explored the ideas of friendship and strengthening connections at home.

Weather: Noticing Feelings

The Project: Young creators designed and built custom "weather watches" out of recycled items.

The Goal: The activity served as a visual tool to help children identify, discuss, and track how their feelings change over time.
These sessions offered more than just an arts and crafts hour. Family Learning workshops are uniquely designed to let parents and carers learn directly alongside their children. Attendees brought along their own spare recyclable boxes, while Luton Adult Learning provided the rest of the essential crafting supplies.

To ensure a focused and safe environment, sessions were kept intimate with a limit of two children per adult, with parents remaining on-site to share the experience every step of the way.

The events took place at Luton Adult Learning, on the 2nd Floor of Arndale House. Because the sessions were funded, they were offered entirely free of charge to eligible UK residents who provided proof of identity and address upon booking.
