All you need to know about the courses we have on offer

Family Learning

Family learning offers huge benefits to you and your child. It is all about learning together and helps you to understand how your child learns. Some family learning focuses on supporting you in your role as a parent or carer, with parenting skills and health and wellbeing.

Family Learning Courses

Our free* Family Learning courses and workshops for parents and carers are mainly delivered in partnership with schools and nurseries across Luton.

If you are a parent or carer, speak to the family worker in your child's school or nursery to find out if family learning is on offer there.

If you work in a school or nursery in Luton and are interested in working in partnership with us to deliver free* family learning courses and workshops to parents and carers in your setting, please go to our Family Learning Course page to find out more about our offer.

We sometimes offer free* Family Learning courses and workshops in our centre in Arndale House in the school holidays to parents and carers with their children. We also sometimes offer online courses directly to parents and carers. The best way to find out what we have on offer is to follow us on social media.

*Before you enrol, please note the following:

Our family learning courses and workshops are intended for Luton residents only. They are open to any adult over the age of 19 who ideally has some caring responsibility for children. They are also open to anyone between aged 16 and 19 who has responsibility for the care of a child or children.

Family Learning courses are funded by Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). You will need to prove your eligibility for this funding at the start of a course, which in most cases means you need to have been resident in the UK for more than 3 years.

If you are a UK national, you can prove your eligibility by showing us your valid British or Irish passport. If you don’t have a passport, you can show us 2 different documents; one that has your name and National Insurance number on it and also a suitable birth or adoption certificate or certificate of registration or naturalisation.

If you are a non-UK or Irish citizen then you will need to show us evidence of your indefinite leave to enter or remain or an immigration status document.

You can find out more information about the funding rules and proof of eligibility on our Course Eligibility and Immigration Status page.

A member of our team will be able to help you if you need guidance about what evidence you need to provide.

To take part in an online workshop or course you will need access to:

  • an email account  and internet access so we can contact you online
  • a computer, tablet or smart phone to be able to join in the Zoom sessions and to access online resources.
