Functional Skills English and Maths

Functional skills qualifications give you essential, practical skills in maths and English and most employers recognise Level 2 Functional Skills as an equivalent to a Grade 4 or C at GCSE. You will gain the necessary skills that you need at work, home or in your community.

Fast-track Functional Skills Level 2 courses in English and Maths

This summer we will be running some fast-track English and Maths Level 2 functional skills courses. A Functional Skills course is a practical qualification designed to equip learners with essential skills for work and everyday life. 
 
This is an intense course that takes place over one month (the course usually runs over approximately three months) ending with a Functional Skills Level 2 exam at the end of it, provided the learner is ready. Attendance to all lessons and completion of all classwork and homework is vital.

To be accepted on to the course you will need to have previously passed Functional Skills Maths/English Level 1, or complete an initial assessment graded as a strong Level 2.

Beginners ICT Course

We offer a beginners ICT course called ‘ICT the Basics’. This course is delivered face to face and is either 5 or 6 weeks in length. We offer morning or afternoon courses and these are 2 - 2.5 hour long sessions, you need to attend each week.

GCSE

GCSE English Language or GCSE Maths are free if you have not taken a GCSE before or you have Grade 3 (D) or lower. You will be asked to complete an initial assessment to make sure the course is right for you.
